Wakefield Canada Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a full time Warehouse Operator reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor. The Warehouse Operator works within a collaborative team and plays a key role in ensuring customer orders and stock transfers are processed effectively. The Warehouse Operator loads and unloads vehicles to ensure efficient turnaround times within the warehouse to address Wakefield’s business needs.
In this role, you will:
- Pick and process customer orders and Wakefield/Castrol stock transfers.
- Load and unload vehicles.
- Fill and/or decant totes in plant or warehouse
- Participate in warehouse control and inventory cycle counting.
- Periodic support for the Receiver function.
- Warehouse housekeeping as required.
- Attend Safety and Compliance Seminars and constantly strive to maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform the required recommended forklift inspection procedures.
- Liaise with shipping coordinators as required.
- Liaise with Warehouse and Distribution Managers and organize packaged goods shipments using Wakefield fleets or outside carriers.
- Receive and follow direction from the Warehouse Lead Hand as needed.
- Support and promote the adherence to all Wakefield policies and procedures.
- Special projects and participation as required.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous related warehouse experience.
- Has experience with WMS, preferred.
- Is self-motivated, conscientious, and able to work well with others.
- Is in good physical condition as the job requires lifting case goods up to 60 pounds and moving drum stock weighing approximately 450 pounds.
- Takes responsibility, “owns the job,” and demonstrates integrity in all aspects of the work.
- Is able to strive in a dynamic environment and support initiatives to achieve superior workplace performance/customer service KPI metrics.
- Is a team player who demonstrates respect for others and is performance driven to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Has good communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Familiarity with all work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to work overtime on a daily basis or as may be required to meet work demands.
- Has a high school or equivalent is required and will have good reading comprehension in addition to writing and mathematical skills.
- Has or be able to acquire the skills required to successfully demonstrate proficiency in Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods & US DOT regulations.
- Has or be able to acquire the skills required to successfully demonstrate proficiency in internet navigation and it is desirable to have some PC skills or the aptitude to be trained.
- Has lift truck experience with valid lift truck certification training or ability to obtain.
