Job Summary:
The VP, Finance is a key member of the WSLT who will lead and effectively manage the financial operations, control of assets, financial planning and investing, and strategy for the organization.  The incumbent will drive operational and financial effectiveness by providing sound, strategic, and operational advice to the WSLT.  Responsibilities also extend to providing timely and accurate financial information to assist in the analysis of company performance and opportunities with respect to products, markets, and investments for expansion. The VP, Finance is responsible for overseeing the Finance & Accounting, Customer Care, and Trade Investment departments in the processing of financial transactions and financial reporting in accordance with company policy & GAAP. 
 
Key Accountabilities:

Finance and Accounting
 
  • Oversee all financial statements, tax returns, and collections.
  • Manage, develop, and support the Controller and General Accounting Manager and direct reports.
  • Develop efficient and effective policies, procedures, and policies for daily activity.
  • Implement appropriate controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risks.
  • Communicate quality information and analysis to support decision making and management of the business.
  • Ensure the business is appropriately financed to enable the company to achieve its objectives.
  • Drive overall business focus to decision making throughout the organization.
  • Instill a ‘One Team’ environment and highlight the value of each member of the organization.
  • Support, advise, and assist in the planning of all special projects.
 
Customer Care
 
  • Process driven support to ensure correct and consistent prices are in computer systems and master data.  Continuously strive to streamline this.
  • Ensure that credits and re-billings are processed in a timely fashion and that 3rd parties have a smooth transaction.
  • Problem solve with other departments (Sales and Distribution) to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Communicate systemic issues to Senior Management for resolution and participate in identifying appropriate solutions.
  • Identify and drive improvements to achieve differentiation that is simple, personal, and effective.
  • Create and foster a positive, high energy, can-do culture.
  • Develop a problem solving mindset, both short and long term, within the department.
  • Participate in and support business processes continuous improvement.
 
Trade Investments
 
  • Work with Trade Investment Supervisor to establish policies and improve processes that would benefit organizational growth.
  • Approve equipment loans larger than $10,000.
  • Assist in the coordination between Trade Investments, Sales, and Marketing departments for further collaboration towards client satisfaction and organizational efficiency.
  • Work with Trade Investment Supervisor to ensure an understanding of policies and the company wide perspective.
  • Identify benefits of sharing information with Sales to build up value of equipment.

Direct Managerial / Supervisory Responsibility
 
  • Provide direction, coaching, mentoring, training and work flow supervision to department heads and direct reports within Finance and Accounting, Customer Care, and Trade Investments.

  • Provide back-up to departmental manager for vacation periods or absences.
 
Education / Experience:
 
  • University degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Accounting designation in either CMA or CA.
  • A minimum of 12 years business experience within a mid-sized organization at the management or Controller level.
  • Experience within a private or entrepreneurial environment would be an asset.
  • Superior Microsoft Suite knowledge and a high degree of computer literacy.
  • Adaptable to financial system software.
 
Working Conditions:
 
  • Office environment.
  • Minimal National/International travel as required.
