The Opportunity

The Systems Administrator will manage and tune in-house hardware and software systems to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. The incumbent will also participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

What You Will Do

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Coordinate with Manager IT Infrastructure and Integration Specialist, considerate business applications, system integration, and database administration functions to implement optimum solutions that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
  • Deploy and maintain workstations, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, group policies, encryption systems, and all host security systems.

Operational Management

  • Configure, implement, troubleshoot, update, and maintain production and administrative computing system hardware and infrastructure.
  • Deploy, maintain, troubleshoot, and administrate Linux(centos/ubuntu) and Windows Servers.
  • Setup, troubleshoot and administrate Linux and windows services/applications like DNS, DHCP, FTP, SSH, VPN, RDP, Active directory, Group policies, WSUS, Intune, MDM etc.
  • Installing and configuring end user hardware devices, operating systems and applications
  • Provide day to day support and administer MS Office 365 application suite
  • Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage input/output fleet, including laptops, tablets, cell phones, printers/scanners.
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform security audits.
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, input/output fleet, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary.
  • Provide backup support to network administration on network related issues, asset management and related documentation.
  • Analyze system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services.
  • Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.

Strategy & Planning

  • Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.

Education/Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science with 5-10 years relevant work experience.
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • Microsoft: Azure Fundamentals
    • Microsoft 365: Modern Desktop Administrator, Security Administrator, Enterprise Administrator and/or Teams Administrator
    • Microsoft: Identity and Access Administrator
  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 or newer, SQL Server 2012 or newer
  • Extensive application support experience with Microsoft 365 including SharePoint and Teams.
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including Active Directory / Azure Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of local area network administration.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
