Wakefield Canada Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a PAYROLL MANAGER, a role we rely upon to manage all aspects of payroll and benefits for our business.  This role reports to the VP of Human Resources and is integral to the success of our HR team. 

In this role you will be:
• Managing bi-weekly, multi-provincial payroll for 200+ employees including hourly, salaried, and unionized staff.   
• Reconciling journal entries to payroll register and preparing month end variance analysis. 
• Managing remittances for taxes, workers compensation, union dues and benefits carriers.
• Responsible for year end processing, reporting functions and government filings.  
• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation, pension and benefits policies and programs and collective agreement provisions.   Advise on any new legislation and market developments.  
• Assisting with interpretation of multiple union contracts ensuring all payments, calculations and other interpretations are correct.    
• Supporting the budget process.   Monitor and analyze expenditures against budget.  
• Managing full-cycle benefits administration and reconciliation of group benefits, pension and group RRSP programs.  Update and reconcile monthly accounts; calculate and remit monthly payments to carriers.
• Supporting pension governance, including management of required filings.  

We’re looking for someone who:
• Has a Certified Payroll Manager designation. 
• Has 10+ years in payroll management for organizations with both union and non-union employees.
• In the last 3 years, has used ADP Workforce Now.    
• Is a mathematical genius and is very confident in their Excel skills. 
• Can always communicate respectfully and professionally.
• Loves problem-solving and can always find and correct errors before it becomes a bigger problem.
• Has previous experience in pension and benefits administration.

We would love it if you had (Ideal, but not a must): 
• Accounting or finance degree/diploma and work experience. 
• Bilingual (French and English) languages.
