Engineering Intern (12 month Contract)

Job Summary:
The Engineering Intern will have an opportunity to work and provide support in Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production departments. This role is a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a variety of areas in Plant Operations in a Private Canadian organization. The successful student will be provided with an opportunity to gain real world experience while also developing their technical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills at the best-in-class organization. Exposure will be provided to root cause analysis and risk assessments as well as failure mode error analysis.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Maintaining and developing the engineering library such as Plant layout drawings, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Plant documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Working with CMMS (Computerized Management System Software) – Fast Maintenance
  • Updating critical spare parts list and inventory
  • Performing time studies on packaging and process equipment
  • Working on cost efficiency and process improvement projects
  • QC testing of raw materials, packaging materials and finished products
  • Maintaining lab and plant equipment calibrations
  • Providing support with record and file keeping
  • Producing various spreadsheets and analysis for all departments
  • Supporting Capital Expenditure Projects
  • Contractor Orientation and Supervision

Education / Experience:
  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering post-secondary student in 3rd year
  • High proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office and prefer experience in AutoCAD or Solid Works
Working Conditions:
  • Office mixed with regular plant operations/warehouse/truck yard environment which would require the use of all necessary PPE (safety glasses, hard hats, safety boots, reflective clothing etc.)
Extended hours during production peak times, PM shift overlap during summer time, and occasional weekend work may be required while overseeing operations
